This book provides a comprehensive and self-contained treatment of the theory, methods, and applications of nonlinear spectral theory. The first chapter briefly recalls the definition and properties of the spectrum and several subspectra for bounded linear operators.   In this book, we study theoretical and practical aspects of computing methods for mathematical modelling of nonlinear systems. A number of computing techniques are considered, such as methods of operator approximation with any given accuracy; operator interpolation techniques including a non-Lagrange interpolation; methods of system representation subject to constraints Book Edition: 1.

Download for offline reading, highlight, bookmark or take notes while you read Analytic Theory Of Subnormal Operators. This is the second of a five-volume exposition of the main principles of nonlinear functional analysis and its applications to the natural sciences, economics, and numerical analysis. The presentation is self -contained and accessible to the nonspecialist. Part II concerns the theory of monotone operators.

A great book - I used it when I was in school and I recommend it now to the students in my operator algebra grad course. All for an amazing $1. The book is not easy, half way to professional level. It should follow a very solid linear algebra book such as the ones by Gelfand, Shilov or Halmos.

It's for grad students or really advanced undergrads. In view of the eminent importance of spectral theory of linear operators in many fields of mathematics and physics, it is not surprising that various attempts have been made to define and study spectra also for nonlinear operators.

This book provides a comprehensive and self-contained treatment of the theory, methods, and applications of nonlinear spectral theory. The objectives of this monograph are to present some topics from the theory of monotone operators and nonlinear semigroup theory which are directly applicable to the existence and uniqueness theory of initial-boundary-value problems for partial differential equations and to construct such operators as realizations of those problems in appropriate function : R.

Showalter. This book emphasizes those basic abstract methods and theories Theory of nonlinear operators book are useful in the study of nonlinear boundary value problems.

The content is developed over six chapters, providing a thorough introduction to the techniques used in the variational and topological analysis of nonlinear boundary value problems described by stationary differential operators.

Publisher Summary. This chapter reviews linear maximal monotone operators and singular nonlinear integral equations of hammerstein type. In the application of the theory of monotone operators to the existence of solutions of nonlinear equations, the concept of maximal monotonicity plays a central role.

Most practical inverse or data assimilation problems are nonlinear. Usually, there are nonlinearities in the operator H which maps the system states or unknown parameter functions onto the measurements. In data assimilation, the dynamics of the underlying dynamical system M is also nonlinear.

This chapter focuses on important classes of nonlinear operators stating abstract results that offer powerful tools for establishing the existence of solutions to nonlinear equations.

Specifically, they are useful in the study of nonlinear elliptic boundary value problems as demonstrated in the final three chapters of the present book. This book systematically introduces the theory of nonlinear analysis, providing an overview of topics such as geometry of Banach spaces, differential calculus in Brand: Springer Singapore.

The book is self-contained, all results are proven very rigorously, and where appropriate, the evolution of results is explained and framed in the historical context. I recommend this book very warmly and without any reservations to anyone interested in nonlinear Perron–Frobenius theory.' Bjorn S.

Berkeley, April TosIO RATO Preface to the First Edition This book is intended to give a systematic presentation of perturba tion theory for linear operators.

It is hoped that the book will be useful to students as well as to mature scientists, both in mathematics and in the physical sciences.4/5(1). In approximation theory, however, applications were limited to linear operators mainly by the fact that the notion of singularity of an integral operator was closely connected with its linearity.

This book represents the first attempt at a comprehensive treatment of approximation theory by means of nonlinear integral operators in function spaces. Nonlinear Programming: Theory and Algorithms—now in an extensively updated Third Edition—addresses the problem of optimizing an objective function in the presence of equality and inequality constraints.

Many realistic problems cannot be adequately represented as a linear program owing to the nature of the nonlinearity of the objective. It's an operator which doesn't satisfy the conditions of linearity, which are (vector space [math]V[/math], field [math]\mathbb{K}[/math]): [math]T(x+y)=Tx+Ty[/math.

Book Description. Uncover the Useful Interactions of Fixed Point Theory with Topological Structures. Nonlinear Functional Analysis in Banach Spaces and Banach Algebras: Fixed Point Theory under Weak Topology for Nonlinear Operators and Block Operator Matrices with Applications is the first book to tackle the topological fixed point theory for block operator matrices with nonlinear entries in.

This chapter presents the differentiation and integration of nonlinear operators. The contemporary differentiation had its origin in the calculus of variations. It highlights a few examples taken from classical variational theory. A really vector space will usually be denoted by X or Y. However, Euclidean n-space is denoted by R n and the real.

It deals with the use of pseudodifferential operators as a tool in nonlinear PDE. One goal has been to build a bridge between two approaches that have been used in a number of works, one being the theory of paradifferential operators, introduced by J.-M.

Bony, the other the study of pseudodifferential operators whose symbols have limited. This book provides a comprehensive and self-contained treatment of the theory, methods, and applications of nonlinear spectral theory.
